SurfStream, introduced in 2006, is the first standing wave surf
pool that creates an authentic surfing experience anytime, anywhere.
Riders at resorts, waterparks, sports events and cruise ships
can use real surf boards with fins to surf on a deep cushion with
water that creates an endless wave. SurfStream accomplishes this
in a compact area, without the need for a large surge tank or
surf-pool type installation.
AWM also provides engineering, design and analysis services for
surf pools, wave generation technology, and open channel flow.
Using state-of-the-art tools, AWM develops computer and physical
3D models for design and analysis.
Company History
Bruce McFarland’s love of surfing and skill in engineering
lead him to design, develop and manufacture a new way to create
artificial waves so that people of all skill levels could learn
how to surf. He founded American Wave Machines, Inc. in 2000 to
focus on the development of artificial wave technology. The company’s
emphasis since then has been on engineering consulting and research
and development. AWM introduced the first standing wave machine,
SurfStream, in 2006.
AWM has received U.S. Patents 6,019,547; 6,629,803; 6,932,541
and other patents pending.
Awards
SurfStream was selected for one of the Most Valuable Products
(MVP) for 2007 by Aquatics International magazine and
as one of Waterpark Resorts Today’s “It”
Products for 2007. The honors were determined by reader response
to a feature in the January 2007 New Products issue of Aquatics
International.
